Summary
Ballarat Children's Homes and Family Services came into being in 1984. It was previously known as Ballarat Children's Homes. The name change reflected shifts in philosophy and practice in the provision of 'care', away from the organisation's origins as the Ballarat District Orphan Asylum. In 1998, the name changed again to Child and Family Services Ballarat.
