Summary
The Carry On Club Victoria established the home known as Hurlingham in Brighton in 1946, to accommodate 'under-privileged boys aged 10-16 who were the sons of ex-servicemen and women'. Some of these boys were also wards of state. In 1955, the Carry On Club of Victoria applied for Hurlingham to be declared an 'approved children's home' under the Children's Welfare Act 1954. The 'Carry On Club Home "Hurlingham"' was gazetted as an approved children's home in January 1956. Hurlingham was closed in 1963.
